This work is featuring an image of a wooden-roofed shack intricately woven from white hemp and silk using a supplementary weaving technique, inspired from Songket. The structure represents the makeshift homes inhabited by plantation labourers—migrant workers who lived under frugal conditions within plantation compounds. Built from the most basic materials, these shacks symbolize a harsh reality hidden behind the surface of the plantation economy.
